Wanna feel good after a breakup? Here’s your song. “Easy” is about breaking up with your partner and realizing that all that time, your partner was a bit of a drag, and because of that you are not depressed, you’re just “easy like Sunday morning.” I’m sure there are many of you that have had such an experience and will thoroughly enjoy the song. If you haven’t, it doesn’t matter, this song is such a great chill-out song to listen to with a nice rhythm and melody.

“Easy” also marked a change for the Commodores as up to this point, they had been making disco/funk music, which was the trend at the time. This song marked a departure in style and showcased for the first time, Lionel Ritchie’s talent for writing slow ballads, which would lead to a hugely successful solo career in the 80s.

Music-wise, this song is very “easy” to listen to (pardon the pun) and it’s probably one of those songs you’ve heard on the radio countless of times but have never bothered to research who sings it. The chorus is very catchy and it will remain with you for the entire day and probably make your day more relaxing than otherwise.

Charts-wise, the song made the top 10 in both the US and the UK. If anyone knows how the song fared in other parts of the world, then I would love to know.
