It’s a Sunday morning here and it’s the perfect day to listen to Relaxing Songs. I don’t want to get out of bed, I don’t want to hear a lot of noise but I want to hear some nice and soothing music. And to top it all off, there’s a cool breeze blowing through my window and I can quickly tell that while the day is going to be warm, it’s going be beautiful too. I’m sure you’ve been in the same situation I’m in on various occasions.

So what types of Relaxing Songs should you listen to?

This post goes through some suggestions you should consider adding to your “Sunday morning chill out music” list.

Piano Ballads

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about my love of Piano Ballads and how they allow you to listen to some of your favorite ballads in a different yet refreshing way. In some cases, I prefer to listen to the piano version of the song rather than the original version with lyrics. An example of this is the song “Heart Light” by Neil Diamond. While there’s no denying that the song has beautiful lyrics, I feel that the lyrics take away a proportion of the magic from the song. If you haven’t listened to a piano version of this song, I suggest you download for free from that blog post.

In fact, there are a total of 10 piano ballads which you can download for free from that page. In my opinion, you will have a hard time finding a better collection of Relaxing Songs elsewhere on the Web.

Classical Music

While not the main topic of this blog, classical music is considered to be one of the most popular forms of relaxing music. Of course, you have to find those pieces with which your body can relax to. While I’m not an expert at all of classical music, I tend to find that a lot of pieces evoke strong emotions, which is certainly not what you want to find in Relaxing Songs.

One of my favorite pieces of relaxing pieces of classical music is “Clair De Lune” (or Moonlight) by the Late Romantic French composer Claude Debussy. There’s a good chance you’ve heard it before, but if you haven’t, enjoy the video below.

My List

If you are not too keen on piano ballads of classical music, then you want to use my personal list of Relaxing Songs, which I’ve created for those Sunday mornings and those moments where I just need to chill out. They are a collection of pop songs from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.

It certainly hasn’t been easy choosing which songs to add to the list because they have to comply with some stringent criteria. The most important one is that the overall beat cannot be too loud or rocky. At the same time, the lyrics must be nice and beautiful.

As a result, my list contains a lot of ballads. It’s not my fault that I’m a hopeless romantic and that I’m currently in the beginning stages of a wonderful relationship. There are also some instrumentals in there.

Here is my list of songs:

Don’t Throw It All Away (Our Love) by Andy Gibb
Love Is Blue by Paul Mauriat
Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head by BJ Thomas
This Guy’s In Love With You by Herb Alpert
Never Gonna Let You Go by Sergio Mendes
Bright Eyes by Art Garfunkel
How Deep Is Your Love by The Bee Gees
My Love by Wings
Kiss From A Rose by Seal
Rise by Herb Alpert
Theme From Mahogany by Diana Ross
Theme From A Summer Place by Percy Faith
Close To You by The Carpenters
Song For Guy by Elton John
Sailing by Christopher Cross
Unforgettable by Nat King & Natalie Cole
Fallen by Lauren Wood
Endless Love by Diana Ross & Lionel Ritchie

I really hope you take advantage of this list and listen to these songs the next time you need to chill out.

I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on this list of Relaxing Songs as well as any suggestions to add to this list.

Today I’ve decided to write about something a bit different: Piano Ballads. Normally, I write about a particular song on my mind or about a compilation I’ve put together. However, today will be a bit different.

Why?

Because I feel like it. In life, you have to mix and match things because if you don’t, life can only get boring and stale. And nobody wants that (I hope you don’t).

So, today I’m going to talk about Piano Ballads or you may know them as Piano Love Songs. If you’re not quite sure what I’m talking about, I’m referring to piano versions of some of your favourite ballads. That is, there are no lyrics in these versions.

The piano love songs I’m referring to have nothing to do with classical pianists and composers such as Mozart, Beethoven or Strauss. These are all modern, contemporary ballads, which fit in with the subject of this website.

Relaxing Music

Last week, I re-discovered Piano Ballads by digging through some old CDs that had been kept in a small cupboard in my family home. I had listened to these years ago but had forgotten about them in recent times. What I found is that piano love songs are a great form of relaxing music.

So relaxing that I’ve been using them frequently to study. I also listen to them to relax at home on my bed or elsewhere. They’re very tranquil and never cease to calm any nerves.

The other great thing about listening to piano versions of ballads is that it makes you realize how great the melody actually is. Quite often, I find that the lyrics take my attention away from the song’s melody. Listening to these Piano Ballads has made me appreciate and fall in love with these songs even more.

Download Piano Ballads

If you’ve never heard or appreciated Piano Ballads, I invite to download the songs below because I can guarantee that you will enjoy them. These are piano based versions of some of the greatest love songs ever composed.

Just in case you’re wondering, these are not piano based recordings from renowned pianist Richard Clayderman. In fact, I’m not quite sure who they were recorded by because I found them on some old CD from years ago. Hence, I am not sure whether someone will claim copyright over these recordings. If you would like to claim copyright over these recordings, simply email me and I will promptly remove these recordings from this website.

However, for the time being, they’re free for everyone to download and enjoy.

It’s only logical that as a proud Aussie that I have created this Best Australian Songs compilation. Two things convinced me to do this. Firstly, the success of the best 80s dance songs compilation that I put together and posted last week meant that I should create another one about another topic. Secondly, I started reading up on some great Australian bands and songs last weekend and it was then that the lightbulb turned on in my head.

Coming up with a list of the Best Australian Songs was an extremely difficult process. In fact, it was probably the toughest and most challenging compilation I’ve put together to date. The reason why I found it challenging was that it was hard to choose the 30 best songs. If you were to go through the entire musical history of your own country of residence and choose the 30 of the best, I’m sure you would find it equally difficult.

While being a difficult process, it was almost thoroughly enjoyable. It was also a learning experience for me as I discovered some great Australian bands and songs that I had never heard. I even discovered songs that I’d heard before but had no idea that the singer or band was actually Australian. How cool is that!

The one thing that I found during this whole process was the rich and history of Australian music, which to be honest, I hadn’t really appreciated and many Australians still do not appreciate as much as they should. I guess this is what happens when you are constantly exposed to music from other musical centers such as the United States and the United Kingdom.

Overall, this whole process has made me an even prouder Aussie knowing that this country has produced some extremely talented musicians and songs for everyone to enjoy.

For all my Australian visitors, I hope this compilation makes you prouder to be Aussie and opens your eyes to our rich and incredible musical history.

For all my visitors from outside Australia, I invite you to listen to 30 of the best songs this country has produced. Some of them you may have heard before due to their international success while others will be new, yet equally great songs to listen to.

Before I end this article, I would like to remind everyone that you can legally download songs in the “Download” section of this website. All the songs featured in this video can be downloaded from there.

My only hope is that you thoroughly enjoyed this Best Australian Songs compilation and share it with your friends accordingly.
