If there ever was a song that has always been misinterpreted by everyone, it is certainly this song. Not that misinterpretation is a bad thing. I’m pretty sure this misinterpretation is the main reason why this song became one of the biggest hits of 1991. I invite you all to listen to this song by playing the video above and work out for yourself what this song is about. Once you think you know what it’s all about, go onto the next page and find out whether you’re correct.

Ok, if you thought is about declaring your love for your partner and how happy you are to be theirs, then you will be disappointed to know that that is incorrect. Yes, I know that the lyrics of the song and the video suggest that it is about showing love for your partner. It all points that way and seems pretty obvious, right? This is why this song has always been misinterpreted. But as I said earlier, this misinterpretation made the song extremely popular in 1991 and still is until this day.

So what is the song really about? Amy Grant has stated that it’s simply about her newborn daughter at the time, “Millie” who was six weeks old at the time of writing the song. Not what you thought, right? For people who already know a bit more about Amy Grant, you would already know that she is the best-selling Christian music artist of all time. This song and the corresponding represented one of her first forays into pop and mainstream music. Thus, for this reason, there was very little chance that she was ever going to write a song about love, as this would risk abandoning her Christian fans.

So there you go. That’s the story behind this song. It doesn’t matter how you interpret the song because you will find (or have already found) that it has a very recognizable, catchy and easy-to-follow tune. So catchy that it can remain in your head for an entire day, which is what happened to me today. The song was hugely successful in the US making it to No.1 for 2 weeks as well as No.2 in the UK and the Top 5 in various countries around the world.

This is the first ever song from the 90s that I’m featuring on this site and it’s about time too. In my opinion, “Baby Baby” is easily one of the Top 15 songs of that decade. I hope you enjoy as much as I do.
